You'll join as Senior Software Engineer for Test Infrastructure, responsible for designing and building the systems that keep Farther's TypeScript codebase fast to test, easy to trust, and safe to ship. This is an individual contributor role focused on elevating engineering productivity and confidence across frontend and backend teams.
Key responsibilities include: designing robust tooling and testing infrastructure supporting both frontend and backend workflows; building comprehensive automation frameworks for unit, integration, and end-to-end testing using Jest, Playwright, Vitest, and Cypress; creating intelligent CI/CD pipelines with file-change tracking, smart test selection, and parallelization; developing utilities for mocking APIs and stubbing external services; monitoring test reliability and performance metrics; collaborating with engineers to ensure code is testable and properly instrumented; creating documentation and onboarding teams to testing best practices; driving technical decisions for testing infrastructure supporting critical trading systems and portfolio management; establishing testing standards and architectural patterns; and partnering with backend teams on reusable test fixtures for complex financial workflows.
Required qualifications: 5+ years software engineering experience with focus on testing infrastructure, developer tooling, or platform engineering; strong TypeScript/JavaScript proficiency and modern testing frameworks; CI/CD pipeline experience (GitHub Actions, Jenkins); infrastructure-as-code experience (CDK, Datadog, Terraform); solid understanding of test automation patterns and mocking strategies; AWS infrastructure and deployment experience; containerization and orchestration knowledge; database testing strategies; strong software engineering principles and system design foundation; monitoring and observability tools experience; excellent problem-solving and debugging skills; strong written communication.
Bonus: financial services or regulated industry testing experience, property-based testing and fuzzing, distributed and load testing frameworks, Scala or Python testing ecosystems, developer productivity tools background, test reporting and analytics platforms, security testing and compliance validation knowledge.
