Salary: USD 196,000 - 227,000 / annual
Airbnb's Client and Identity Engineering team is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to build and maintain robust, scalable, and secure systems that underpin the Zero Trust ecosystem. This team is accountable for establishing user identity and endpoint security infrastructure across Airbnb's corporate environment, enabling employees and partners to have secure access to the data they need at the right time and in the right context.
You will work on critical systems with higher reliability and security requirements than most backend services. Downtime in these systems can result in downtime for Airbnb employees and partners company-wide. You will collaborate closely with security engineering teams to design new features and evolve platforms to meet evolving business needs.
In this role, you will:
- Work with open source products to build the next generation client platform for all Airbnb corporate endpoints
- Build on the zero trust backend suite, supporting security services, network paths, and user and device signaling
- Support executive-level Airbnb staff with endpoint and identity solutions
- Work with product and engineering teams to optimize endpoints and identity flows for employees and partners
- Lead technical projects and mentor junior engineers

**Requirements:**
- Bachelor's degree (or Master's/PhD) preferably in Computer Science, or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of experience in test-driven software development
- Extensive experience with Go, Python, or Java (Go strongly preferred)
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and infrastructure as code deployments
- Experience developing and deploying services in Kubernetes environments
- Solid understanding of software architecture and design patterns
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills; ability to work well within engineering organization and across functions
- Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills
- Experience leading technical projects and mentoring junior engineers
- Motivation for personal growth and learning new technologies
**Bonus qualifications:**
- Experience with microservices architecture
- Familiarity with Apple MDM spec and modern MDM deployments
- Understanding of authentication and authorization principles (OAuth 2.0, OpenID, SAML, ABAC, Zero Trust security protocols)
