As a Senior Software Engineer on the Tax Platform Engineering team, you will architect, build, and scale mission-critical systems ensuring accuracy, verifiability, and compliance for global tax obligations. You will own durable systems of record that serve as the definitive source of truth for financial operations, directly mitigating financial risk and ensuring auditable adherence to complex financial laws in a high-volume, regulated environment.
Key responsibilities include: designing and building highly scalable, resilient, and secure microservices and data processing systems using Golang; modeling complex, long-running tax reporting business logic as durable, stateful workflows using Temporal; implementing and optimizing data pipelines consuming financial events from Redpanda; collaborating with cross-functional teams of tax analysts, legal experts, and product managers to translate regulatory requirements into robust software solutions; providing technical leadership and mentorship on distributed system design, API definition with gRPC, code quality, and testing strategies; building systems with auditability, traceability, and data lineage as first-class concerns; and owning the full lifecycle of services including automated deployment (CI/CD with Jenkins and Terraform), monitoring, and incident response.
The technical environment includes Golang microservices, gRPC with Protocol Buffers for service-to-service APIs, Temporal for workflow orchestration, Redpanda for streaming data, AWS cloud infrastructure, Docker and Kubernetes containerization, Terraform for Infrastructure as Code, and modern observability tools including Prometheus, Grafana, and Datadog.
Required qualifications: 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with a proven track record of shipping and operating complex, large-scale systems in production; deep, hands-on expertise in Golang including strong command of concurrency models, memory management, and standard library.
