The Streaming team is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to architect and evolve Attentive's next-generation event streaming platform. This role sits at the heart of the company's messaging and personalization infrastructure, handling mission-critical real-time data flows that power product and data engineering teams.
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing high-throughput, low-latency event streaming solutions for messaging, personalization, and data integration
- Building self-serve tools for observability, debugging, load testing, and system configuration to empower engineering teams
- Modernizing streaming architecture by removing abstraction layers and enabling flexible access for both standard and advanced use cases
- Solving distributed systems challenges around event delivery reliability, cost efficiency, and system integration
- Staying current with industry advancements in event streaming and advocating for appropriate technology choices
- Collaborating with product, data, and infrastructure teams to launch customer-facing features and scalable solutions
Required expertise includes 5+ years architecting high-throughput distributed systems, deep knowledge of Kafka/Flink/Pulsar/Spark, proficiency in Java (Spring Boot), and ability to debug across the full stack from serialization to JVM tuning. Infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Helm), Kubernetes (EKS), and cloud-native AWS environments are essential. Experience modernizing platforms, implementing self-service capabilities, and working with observability tooling (tracing, metrics, replay) is valued. The ideal candidate balances pragmatism with innovation, focused on solving real business problems.
