Robinhood's Storage Platform team builds and operates the infrastructure that powers database access across the company. The team owns relational databases (Postgres/Aurora), key-value stores (DynamoDB), and caching systems, along with SDKs, control plane automation, and data plane services that enable safe and reliable access at scale. The team manages thousands of databases and hundreds of caching clusters supporting millions of users and critical brokerage workloads, with strict uptime requirements including zero downtime during market hours.
As a Senior Software Engineer on this team, you will build and improve core infrastructure used by many engineering teams, with a focus on reliability, performance, and operational excellence. You'll deliver key components of data plane and control plane systems—such as connection pooling, query routing, automation workflows, and observability—and help evolve patterns for safe, consistent database access across the organization.
Key responsibilities include: building and shipping services that improve database reliability and performance; implementing automation that reduces manual operational work for databases and caching clusters at scale (provisioning, configuration, backups, routine operations); improving observability for storage systems through metrics, logs, and alerts; diagnosing and resolving production issues across storage infrastructure including latency regressions and availability events; and contributing to engineering standards for secure database connectivity and safe usage guardrails.
You should bring strong experience building and operating backend or infrastructure systems in production environments, solid knowledge of PostgreSQL and relational database concepts (schema design, indexing, query performance, replication), proficiency in Go or Rust with the ability to learn existing codebases quickly, hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure and containers (AWS and Kubernetes preferred), and familiarity with system observability practices. On-call and incident response experience is expected.
The role is based in Bellevue, WA with in-person attendance required at least 3 days per week. Robinhood offers competitive compensation with performance multipliers, equity ownership, 401(k) matching, comprehensive health insurance, lifestyle wallet benefits, and employer-paid life and disability insurance.
