Datadog's Security Libraries team owns customer-side integrations for runtime security products including App & API Protection, Workload Protection, and Code Security. These libraries enable continuous, real-time monitoring of vulnerabilities and threats against web applications, serverless applications, and APIs in production, integrated with Application Performance Monitoring (APM) distributed tracing.
The team maintains security capabilities across a polyglot stack: .NET, Java, Go, Node.js, Python, Ruby, and PHP, built on a shared C++ core and HTTP proxy integrations (Envoy, NGINX, HAProxy). The libraries instrument thousands of production applications globally, with recent work spanning exploit prevention (RASP), WAF detections, API Security, code security (IAST and SCA), and AI-assisted onboarding.
You will design and build security integrations and detection features, taking them from prototype to production-hardened systems. As a senior engineer, you'll own systems operationally—monitoring production telemetry, debugging cross-system issues, and driving down customer-facing problems. You'll shape the roadmap by defining OKRs, breaking features into parallel workstreams, and driving designs to alignment across security library teams.
Key responsibilities include: designing and owning security integrations (WAF, RASP, API Security, IAST, SCA) with .NET and/or Java as primary focus; taking projects from prototype to deployed, correct, and maintainable code; monitoring production telemetry and debugging challenging issues; partnering with product, backend, and frontend teams to turn ideas into adopted capabilities; mentoring teammates and raising code quality standards; and representing Datadog in language and security communities.
You are an expert in .NET (C#) or Java and a polyglot who can contribute idiomatically across other libraries. You have strong software-engineering fundamentals, consistently shipping modular, maintainable code with minimal guidance. You possess a product-engineering mindset, caring about user experience and outcomes as much as code quality, and you weigh technical tradeoffs against customer value.
