Docker is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Secure Build team, which owns Docker Build Cloud, Auto Builds, and next-generation trusted build and CI capabilities. The role focuses on building and operating infrastructure that enables developers and AI agents to run build and test work securely, quickly, and with verifiable results.
You will own substantial features end-to-end, from discovery and design through production operation. The technical scope spans Go services, container and build technology (OCI, BuildKit), cloud infrastructure, isolated execution, and software supply-chain security. Key responsibilities include designing and building Go services and APIs for Docker's build infrastructure; developing isolation, identity, policy, provenance, attestation, and signing capabilities; ensuring reliability of Docker Build Cloud and Auto Builds; making practical security trade-offs guided by threat modeling; and participating in the team's on-call rotation.
Success means becoming an end-to-end owner for secure, reliable build infrastructure. Within your first year, you should deliver a material secure-build or CI capability, reduce operational risk in production systems, and become a trusted partner to internal teams and customers.
Required qualifications include 6+ years of software engineering with demonstrated technical leadership on production systems at scale; strong backend experience building and operating distributed systems; production Go experience; hands-on work with containers and build/CI systems (OCI, BuildKit, GitHub Actions, or similar); cloud-native infrastructure experience; strong operational mindset covering observability, reliability, and incident response; and a product mindset with care for developer workflows, including those used by software agents.
Helpful experience includes Kubernetes, SLSA/in-toto/SBOM/Sigstore, sandboxing and multi-tenant infrastructure, hosted CI runners, agentic development workflows, and evolving legacy production systems. Docker is a globally distributed, remote-first team using AI-assisted engineering tools; engineers are expected to use them thoughtfully and remain accountable for quality and security.
