Skydropx is innovating logistics across Latin America with a mission to help businesses in the region eliminate logistics complexity. The company is building a modern software platform powered by AI and human expertise working in tandem.
As a Senior Rust Developer, you will lead the technical design and development of high-impact services that power Skydropx's core products. You'll make architectural decisions at the system level, define technical standards, and guide the engineering team in adopting modern development practices. This is a platform engineering role with close collaboration on AI-integrated systems.
Key responsibilities include: leading the design and development of critical features and system improvements; making architectural decisions and proposing technical enhancements; designing and implementing high-performance Rust components where efficiency, concurrency, or memory safety are critical; writing technical documentation, RFCs, and design proposals; debugging complex distributed systems in production; defining and enforcing code quality and best practices standards; mentoring junior and mid-level engineers; conducting rigorous but constructive code reviews; autonomously shipping large-scope features; and actively participating in technical planning and engineering roadmap definition.
Required qualifications: 6+ years of software design and application development experience (Node.js or Ruby on Rails); professional production experience with Rust (services, system tools, high-performance components); solid JavaScript and modern frontend ecosystem experience; proven microservices and API design/build experience; deep software engineering knowledge and best practices across the full development lifecycle (coding standards, code review, version control, CI/CD, testing, operations); practical experience designing and deploying large-scale distributed systems and high-availability client-server architectures; demonstrated ability to lead technically, mentor engineers, and communicate complex ideas to technical and non-technical audiences; experience making technology trade-off decisions based on problem requirements.
Desirable: GCP/AWS/Azure experience; Kafka or event-driven systems; containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes); algorithms and data structures expertise; concurrent and asynchronous programming (Tokio, async/await); open-source contributions; observability tools (tracing, metrics, structured logging).
The role is 100% remote, based in Mexico timezone (CST, 8am-5pm Monday-Friday with schedule flexibility during releases). Compensation is competitive and negotiable based on experience, skills, and interview performance. The company operates across Argentina, Colombia, Mexico, Venezuela, Panama, and Peru.
