Reserv is a venture-backed insurtech company (founded May 2022, backed by Bain Capital and Altai Ventures) building AI and automation technology to modernize insurance claims processing. The company is tackling long-standing inefficiencies in claims management for TPAs, insurance technology providers, and adjusters.
As a Senior Software Engineer (Ruby), you will be a core contributor to Reserv's full-stack platform, working primarily on backend systems while collaborating across the product and engineering teams. You'll design, build, and deploy production-ready software using Ruby and Ruby on Rails, with exposure to modern front-end technologies (React, TypeScript) as needed.
Key responsibilities include:
- Architecting and implementing scalable backend systems with strong API design, data modeling, and performance optimization
- Delivering high-quality, reliable, and maintainable code that powers the claims automation platform
- Contributing to end-to-end product experiences by collaborating with product, design, and cross-functional teams
- Mentoring junior engineers and driving technical excellence across the engineering organization
- Taking ownership of infrastructure, security, and CI/CD improvements when needed
- Exploring emerging technologies and best practices to keep the platform competitive
You bring 5+ years of hands-on experience building production software in Ruby/Rails, deep backend expertise, and a track record of delivering high-quality systems. You're versatile—comfortable stepping into front-end debugging, security work, or infrastructure optimization. You value collaboration, continuous learning (demonstrated through side projects, open-source contributions, or technical writing), and user-centric thinking. You thrive in evolving environments and are excited about the opportunity to shape the future of insurance technology.
