You will serve as a Senior Software Engineer on the Ruby on Rails technical team, providing technical leadership and architectural guidance while remaining hands-on in development. Your responsibilities span technical leadership, product delivery, cross-functional collaboration, and operational excellence.
Technical Leadership & Architecture: Provide architectural guidance and strategic direction in collaboration with leadership. Establish and champion engineering best practices, code standards, and quality benchmarks across the team.
Product Development & Delivery: Build and maintain high-quality, stable, well-tested web applications with comprehensive test coverage. Deliver complete features in short development cycles, writing effective frontend and backend code. Break down complex technical requirements into deliverable solutions using systematic decomposition. Leverage AI coding tools to accelerate development velocity.
Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner with designers, product managers, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions. Instrument features with metrics to enable data-driven decisions. Communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Quality & Operations: Ensure quality releases through rigorous testing, code review, and deployment practices. Monitor application performance and proactively address scalability concerns. Contribute to incident response and system reliability efforts.
Required: 7+ years professional software development experience with significant web application work; 3+ years hands-on Ruby on Rails in production; strong relational database knowledge (query optimization, indexing, schema design); Sidekiq or background job processing experience; testing methodologies expertise; AI coding tools familiarity (GitHub Copilot, Cursor); Model Context Protocol or similar AI integration patterns; Git, CI/CD, and automated deployment experience; strong communication and cross-team collaboration skills.
Desirable: active-admin experience, Hotwire and Stimulus expertise, Computer Science degree, proven track record in high-performing agile environments with rapid iteration.
