Applied Intuition Defence is seeking a Senior Robotics Software Engineer to join its London-based team. The role combines field work, office-based development, and customer engagement across autonomous systems for defense applications.
Day-to-day responsibilities include hardware-software integration on vehicle platforms, autonomy algorithm testing in simulation (SIL/HIL) environments, and live field demonstrations with defense customers. You'll develop mission behavior logic, navigation systems, and decision-making algorithms for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and other autonomous platforms. The role requires hands-on technical leadership: you'll architect autonomy solutions, mentor junior engineers, and set technical direction for the team.
Key technical areas include C++ development, Pixhawk autopilot integration (ArduPilot/PX4), embedded Linux deployment, containerized environments (Docker), communication protocols (UART, SPI, I2C, Ethernet), and real-time/safety-critical systems. You'll work across the full stack—from sensor integration and data collection to system-level validation and troubleshooting.
Applied Intuition Defence is a subsidiary of Applied Intuition (Series A, $15B valuation), serving 18 of the top 20 global automakers and US military/allied forces. The team draws talent from Palantir, Anduril, SpaceX, Google, Lockheed Martin, and military backgrounds. The company operates in-office (5 days/week from London) with flexibility for occasional remote work. Travel to other offices and customer sites is expected.
