Veeam Software, the Data and AI Trust Company headquartered in Seattle, is seeking a Senior Software Engineer, Reliability (SRE) to join their team in Pune. This is a hands-on technical leadership role within the SRE organization, where you will guide senior engineers, influence product development teams, and ensure systems are built to be reliable, scalable, and observable from inception. You will drive strategic SRE initiatives across the company's global platform, mentor engineers in SRE practices, and define architectural best practices. Key responsibilities include designing and evolving infrastructure for high availability and fault tolerance across public clouds (primarily Azure), establishing SLIs/SLOs/error budgets, and leading incident response with blameless postmortems. You will drive adoption of deep observability practices using tools like Prometheus, Grafana, and OpenTelemetry, develop automation and self-healing tools to reduce operational toil, and contribute to infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD systems, and deployment automation. You will integrate chaos engineering tools to validate reliability assumptions, implement testing strategies and canary deployments, and embed within product teams to champion reliability from design through delivery. This role emphasizes mentoring, collaboration across global teams, and fostering a learning culture focused on continuous improvement and proactive risk management. Required qualifications: 5+ years of hands-on software engineering experience with at least 2 years in Site Reliability, Platform Engineering, or similar roles. Deep experience building systems on public cloud providers (Azure preferred), strong programming skills in JavaScript, Node, TypeScript, Go, Java, C#, or similar languages. Proven track record delivering monitoring and observability tooling, experience with IaC tools (Terraform/Pulumi) and container orchestration (Kubernetes), and solid understanding of distributed systems and cloud networking.
