Everlaw is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to build, optimize, and harden the release pipelines and APIs powering their transition to an agent-ready deployment platform. This is a hands-on, execution-heavy role focused on enabling both humans and AI agents to safely and consistently deploy infrastructure and application code. Key responsibilities include: • Optimize Gradle/Bazel configurations and Java build graphs to improve cache hit rates, parallelism, and resource utilization across the monorepo. • Identify and eliminate flaky tests and unstable infrastructure in CI pipelines to ensure reliable build signals. • Build automations that generate FedRAMP and other audit artifacts from pipelines, reducing manual work while improving compliance posture. • Shift logs and build outputs toward structured, traceable formats and implement idempotent APIs to enable safe orchestration by future automation. • Use Terraform and Helm to define and evolve infrastructure powering builds and deployments, managing configuration drift, health, and scaling. • Drive complex release engineering projects end-to-end—scoping, design, execution, rollout, and post-launch improvements—while mentoring peers. Required qualifications: • 5+ years of software engineering experience focused on Release, DevOps, or Platform Engineering in cloud-based systems. • Strong proficiency in Java or similar statically-typed language; comfortable scripting in Python and/or Bash. • Deep hands-on experience with build tools (Gradle, Bazel, Maven) at scale in large codebases. • Experience managing cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred) using Terraform or similar IaC tools; modern CI/CD platform operations. • Strong fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, system design, and distributed systems with a track record of automating operational toil. • Must be authorized to work in the United States; visa sponsorship not available. Bonus experience: Open Policy Agent (OPA), regulated environments (FedRAMP, HIPAA, SOC 2), AI coding assistants, Bazel/multi-language monorepos, open-source contributions in CI/CD/release/IaC tooling. The role is full-time, exempt, based in Oakland with hybrid schedule: in-office Monday/Wednesday/Thursday, remote Tuesday/Friday.
