IonQ is a quantum computing platform company (NYSE: IONQ) delivering integrated quantum solutions across computing, networking, sensing, and security. The company has achieved 99.99% two-qubit gate fidelity and set world records in quantum computing performance. Customers include Amazon Web Services and AstraZeneca. You will own the end-to-end software release process, defining how individually built software and firmware components integrate into deployable releases for the quantum operating system across multiple product lines. Key responsibilities include: - Design and automate the complete release pipeline, assembling versioned components through defined release stages with explicit entry criteria - Establish and publish standards governing how component teams version, package, and qualify artifacts for integrated releases - Evolve the current semi-automated release process into a push-button workflow to reduce release time and improve developer efficiency - Build a comprehensive release manifest mechanism to ensure authoritative documentation and queryability of system components and versions - Design and implement foundational release infrastructure supporting multiple generations of the quantum operating system - Partner with component teams to integrate artifacts into a coherent, auditable end-to-end release model The ideal candidate is systems-minded, energized by bringing clarity and rigor to complex multi-team processes, and capable of both defining standards and implementing them in code. This is an individual contributor role at the senior level, requiring deep technical expertise in release engineering, CI/CD, software architecture, and cross-functional collaboration. The role is based in Bothell, WA; College Park, MD; or Boulder, CO with a hybrid work model (remote a few days per week). Up to 10% travel expected.
