The Regulatory Reporting team builds and operates Airwallex's automated compliance reporting pipeline across 10+ jurisdictions globally, owning the full stack from data modelling and submission tooling to AI-assisted review and internal compliance platforms.
As Senior Software Engineer, you will own both technical direction and day-to-day execution of the regulatory reporting engineering function. You'll define the technical roadmap for regulatory reporting automation across all licensed entities and jurisdictions, lead architecture decisions across data pipelines, submission tooling, and AI-assisted compliance workflows, and ensure accurate, timely, and auditable report delivery.
Key responsibilities include acting as the primary engineering point of contact for Compliance, Legal, and Finance stakeholders; translating regulatory requirements into technical specifications; driving adoption of AI/LLM tooling to automate review and gap analysis; defining data quality and testing standards; and partnering with the broader Core Banking engineering organization on shared data platform capabilities.
You bring 5+ years of software engineering experience with strong backend foundations in Python, Kotlin, or Java and SQL proficiency. You have a proven track record leading complex, multi-stakeholder technical programmes and translating ambiguous regulatory requirements into clear engineering designs. Preferred experience includes financial services or regulatory technology, production analytics engineering with dbt/Databricks/Spark/BigQuery, LLM/agent frameworks for document-heavy domains, multi-jurisdiction environments, and building reconciliation and data quality frameworks for financial reporting.
