Salary: USD 168,000 - 231,000 / annual
Cloudflare is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to work on Quicksilver, its globally distributed key-value store that replicates data across tens of thousands of servers and 500+ data centers worldwide, serving billions of keys per second. You will own the full stack—from code and testing through deployment, operations, monitoring, alerting, and on-call support. The role involves writing new features in Go and C, optimizing performance (CPU, memory), improving monitoring and debugging tools, and investigating complex, hard-to-reproduce issues across a massive distributed system.
You will work on challenges including unexpected network conditions, hardware failures, and kernel bugs while maintaining fast and reliable data delivery to the edge. The team values pragmatism, curiosity, and autonomous problem-solving. You should have proven experience with storage systems, peer-to-peer systems, large-scale distributed systems, or systems programming. You are comfortable with low-level and high-level programming, enjoy collaborative design reviews, and are willing to engage in on-call support during off-hours. The role is hybrid with available locations in Atlanta, Austin, Denver, New York, Seattle, and Washington D.C.
