SpotOn is a restaurant technology company offering award-winning point-of-sale systems and AI-powered profit tools for independent restaurants. The company is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to identify and eliminate inefficiencies across operations, sales, and customer support through AI-driven automation systems.
In this high-autonomy, high-impact individual contributor role, you will own business automation end-to-end. You'll partner directly with operations, sales, and customer support teams to identify workflow bottlenecks and manual processes ripe for automation. Rather than waiting for detailed specifications, you'll discover problems, scope solutions, build them, deploy them, and measure their impact in business terms.
Your core responsibilities include designing and shipping AI-driven systems that replace manual labor—not simple chatbot wrappers, but agentic workflows and orchestration layers handling complex, multi-step business processes autonomously with production-grade guardrails and error handling. You'll measure everything: hours recovered, error rates reduced, cycle times compressed, and operational throughput gained. You evangelize through working systems, not presentations, turning skeptics into believers by demonstrating tangible time savings.
Required qualifications: 7+ years professional software engineering experience; strong proficiency in Python and TypeScript/JavaScript for production systems; full-stack capability spanning backend services, APIs, and frontend interfaces; 1–2+ years working deeply with LLMs and AI agents in production (not side projects); hands-on experience building multi-agent or agentic workflows with tools like Claude Code, LangGraph, CrewAI, or AutoGen; daily use of AI coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Windsurf); comfort working directly with non-technical stakeholders to translate workflows into technical solutions.
Nice-to-have skills include Salesforce platform development (Apex, Lightning, APIs), custom AI orchestration layers for business process automation, CI/CD pipeline design, cloud infrastructure experience (AWS, GCP, Azure), and prior ops automation or business process reengineering at fast-growing companies.
This is a role for someone AI-obsessed in the productive sense—someone who has already built real AI systems in production, understands failure modes and cost optimization, and can teach others to work effectively with AI coding tools.
