Truework, recently acquired by Checkr, disrupts the $5B+ mortgage and income verification industry with modern technology and customer focus. Operating as an independent unit within Checkr, Truework serves 8 of the top 10 US mortgage lenders while leveraging Checkr's core platform strengths.
As a Senior Software Engineer on the Truework team, you will develop and maintain the backend platform powering employment and income verification for mortgage loans, apartment rentals, and background checks. You'll work as an independent contributor with high autonomy, taking ownership across the full product development lifecycle—from collaborating with product managers and customers to define features, through implementation, to working with sales and marketing on launches.
Key responsibilities include:
- Solve complex problems and deliver high-quality solutions with minimal oversight and strong ownership
- Bring customer-centric, product-oriented thinking to resolve ambiguities and ship impactful features
- Partner with engineering, product, and design teams on architecture and feature design
- Adopt an experimentation mindset to validate customer needs, build team alignment, and ship rapid MVPs
- Maintain quality as a critical pillar of all software deliverables
- Use data-driven approaches to instrument and evaluate product experiments
- Deliver performant, reliable, scalable, and secure code at Truework's scale
- Monitor, investigate, and resolve production issues for owned services
You bring 5+ years of software development experience, proficiency in Python and JavaScript (or similar), experience building RESTful APIs, strong communication and documentation skills, and a demonstrated sense of ownership from design through production. You're collaborative, eager to learn, and thrive in fast-paced environments.
