Zocdoc is transforming how healthcare practices interact with its platform by building intelligent systems that understand each practice's needs and guide them toward actions that grow their business. This includes personalized homepages, smart recommendations, AI-assisted configuration, and workflows that make Zocdoc essential to daily operations.
As Senior Software Engineer on the Provider Engagement team, you will build these systems end-to-end, owning features from design through production and working across the full stack. You'll collaborate closely with Product, Design, and Data Science teams to ship experiences that matter to healthcare providers.
Key responsibilities include:
- Building platform components such as practice profile services, engagement scoring pipelines, recommendation APIs, and personalization infrastructure
- Shipping product features end-to-end—from database schema to API to front-end—owning the complete lifecycle
- Integrating ML models with Data Science: building feature pipelines, calling model endpoints, and instrumenting feedback loops to measure outcomes
- Building product surfaces that deliver recommendations—personalized homepage modules, in-product messaging, and value reinforcement
- Writing production-ready code with strong testing, observability, and error handling
- Participating in design discussions and contributing to architecture decisions
- Improving engineering practices including testing, CI/CD, monitoring, and documentation
- Mentoring junior engineers through code reviews and pairing
You'll work in an agile environment alongside dedicated engineers, product managers, designers, and data scientists. The role emphasizes full-stack ownership, product-driven thinking, and a relentless focus on user needs. You should be inspired by the opportunity to positively impact healthcare access for millions of patients and providers.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 5+ years of software engineering experience building production systems
- Full-stack capabilities—comfortable across backend services, APIs, and front-end
- Experience with data pipelines or ETL—you've built systems that aggregate, transform, or serve data
- Comfort working with ML outputs—you can integrate models (call APIs, handle predictions, log outcomes)
- Strong fundamentals in data structures, system design, and debugging
- Good judgment on engineering tradeoffs—knowing when to optimize and when to ship
- Ownership mentality—seeing features through to production
