Peregrine Technologies is an AI-enabled platform backed by leading Silicon Valley investors that helps public safety organizations, state and local governments, federal agencies, and private-sector institutions turn siloed data into operational intelligence. The company currently supports hundreds of customers across 30+ states and two countries, serving more than 125 million people. You'll join the Product Experiences team, which builds the features users interact with daily across the Peregrine platform. This team is responsible for major user-facing capabilities including Search, Dossier, Charts, Dashboards, Maps, Network, Table, Workspace, Docs, Automations, and Mobile. You'll work cross-functionally with design and product management to ship experiences that are fast, intuitive, and trustworthy—turning enormous amounts of data into actionable intelligence for investigators and analysts. As a Senior Software Engineer, you'll have vast ownership across these capabilities and will take on some of the most visible technical challenges: building search and semantic discovery across billions of records, designing Dossier views that assemble complete entity pictures on demand, and crafting real-time collaborative experiences on maps and networks. You'll bring AI-powered capabilities to users where source transparency and trust are critical, while obsessing over craft details like latency, interaction design, and resilience. The technical stack includes React, Redux, TypeScript, and Mapbox on the frontend; Python, Django, Celery, Airflow, and Kafka on the backend; PostgreSQL and Elasticsearch for data; machine learning models in Bedrock and SageMaker; and AWS, Pulumi, Terraform, and Kubernetes for infrastructure. You'll thrive on ambiguity, own large portions of the user-facing platform from start to finish, and partner closely with design and product teams. The role requires 5+ years of cross-functional software development experience, strong frontend fundamentals with React/TypeScript, full-stack capability to ship features end-to-end, and solid understanding of distributed systems architecture. You must be located in San Francisco or Washington, D.C. and open to working in office 4 days per week.
