Abnormal AI is building the next generation of identity security for enterprises undergoing simultaneous cloud and AI transformations. The Identity Security team is extending Abnormal's behavioral intelligence approach—proven in email security—to protect identities across cloud infrastructure and AI systems. The challenge: humans, service accounts, and AI agents now outnumber traditional users 10-to-1, and legacy identity tools cannot govern this explosion. You will join a small, high-ownership team (8-10 engineers) shipping a critical product toward market fit. This is a hands-on role where you write and review code daily while collaborating on technical direction and building scalable foundations. You'll partner directly with internal and external customers to gather feedback and iterate quickly, setting engineering standards and practices that will scale as the team grows. The role suits engineers who thrive in ambiguity, have strong instincts for customer needs, and enjoy founding-team dynamics: small group, high ownership, fast iteration. You'll grow the team and product as traction expands. Must-haves: 5+ years of software engineering experience, track record of shipping products in fast-moving environments, ability to read/write/review code at a high level (Python/Go preferred), experience hiring and developing engineers, and Bay Area location (25% in-office presence required). Nice-to-haves: enterprise/B2B security product experience, familiarity with ML systems or ML-adjacent infrastructure, exposure to AWS, Kafka, containerized services, and microservices. Growth paths include expanding scope as Identity Security grows and building out a larger team as the company scales beyond initial product-market fit. The team includes veterans from Google, Twitter, Pinterest, Amazon, Microsoft, and Expanse, serving a customer base that includes multiple Fortune 500 companies.
