ICEYE is a space-based intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) company delivering synthetic aperture radar (SAR) satellite technology and data to governments, defense, intelligence, and commercial users globally. The Flood Solutions team is building software systems that transform analytical insights into reliable, scalable products for flood detection and response. As a Senior Software Engineer in Product Engineering, you will drive software development for ICEYE Flood Solutions, ensuring consistent delivery and operation of systems that customers can trust in real-world conditions including cloud cover, darkness, and limited visibility. You'll work in a hybrid model (3 days/week in Espoo office) reporting to an Engineering Manager or Team Lead. Key responsibilities include: transforming ambiguous requirements into small, testable increments shipped safely to production; collaborating daily with Product, ML/GIS, and SAR scientists to align technical constraints with outcomes; managing system health through alerts, dashboards, on-call rotations, and automation; guiding technical decisions using reversible, incremental patterns and documenting via ADRs; and multiplying team impact through code reviews, pairing, and mentorship. You must have senior-level experience designing, delivering, and maintaining cloud-native production software in collaborative teams. You've seen systems fail, learn from incidents, and design for resilience and operability. You prioritize finishing and unblocking work over starting parallel tasks. You're proficient in Python (FastAPI/async), TypeScript/React, and PostgreSQL with a focus on readability and maintainability. You're skilled in Docker-based workflows, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud deployments. You have an automation mindset, using tooling (including AI-assisted workflows) to reduce boilerplate while keeping humans accountable for correctness, security, and quality. Nice-to-haves include experience with geospatial applications, remote sensing, machine learning, MLOps, data-intensive applications, event-driven architecture, distributed systems, Kubernetes, and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform). The role requires security screening including SUPO (Finnish security vetting). Employment is permanent. The application process includes TA screen, hiring manager interview, panel interview, task presentation, department lead interview, and SVP of Solutions interview.
