Salary: USD 160,000 - 200,000 / annual
Lithic is a modern card issuing and processing platform that powers card programs for 100+ innovative financial companies. The company provides developer-friendly APIs, direct network connections, and reconciliation infrastructure enabling clients to launch and scale card programs in weeks rather than years.
The Processing team builds and maintains real-time interfaces between Lithic and external payment networks (Mastercard, Visa, Amex). Every card authorization, clearing message, and settlement file flows through systems owned by this team. The team manages both online and batch transaction flows, transaction enrichment, disputes processing, and network compliance. These systems have strict latency and uptime requirements as they sit on the critical path for every card transaction. The team also manages physical network peering with card network partners, making infrastructure and networking expertise important. Primary tech stack: Java, Python, and Kotlin on AWS.
As a Senior Software Engineer on this team, you will ensure high reliability, low latency, and correctness for Lithic's transaction processing interfaces and related services. You will develop new capabilities across authorization, clearing/settlement, disputes, and network integration surfaces. You'll ensure the team delivers reliable, secure, and scalable code with minimal tech debt, and evolve infrastructure supporting physical network peering to meet reliability requirements. You will own initiatives from planning to launch, keeping stakeholders informed and aligned. You'll participate in the team on-call rotation, lead efforts to improve systems and processes within the team and across engineering, and help drive strategic planning in collaboration with the engineering manager and product manager.

REQUIREMENTS:
- 8+ years experience shipping code in fast-paced production environments
- Advanced distributed systems instincts and design skills
- Experience driving large cross-functional projects across engineering, product, and operations teams
- Proven commitment to empathy and inclusion

- Interest in fintech and payments space (preferred)
