Salary: USD 148,000 - 222,000 / annual
Klaviyo's Platform Engineering team is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design and develop foundational platform services that enable the broader engineering organization to move faster with confidence. You will own the design and development of core infrastructure primitives, platforms, and tooling that support product teams across the company.
In this role, you'll ship foundational services that improve availability, scalability, latency, and efficiency of Klaviyo's core platforms. You'll build deep understanding of engineering needs across the organization and guide the design of appropriate platform primitives including infrastructure, databases, and queuing systems. Your work will help teams better serve customers and meet their SLOs.
You'll design and develop systems and processes that enable highly available and scalable applications, leveraging technologies such as Python, Go, AWS, and Kubernetes. A key part of this role is mentoring and pairing with other engineers to build better software by focusing on performance, self-healing systems, configuration as code, and defensive programming.
Required qualifications include a BA/BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience, 5+ years operating and scaling complex distributed systems, and proven experience in cloud-native environments. You should have strong development skills in Python and Go, experience operating Kubernetes at scale, proficiency with Terraform, and fundamental understanding of Linux and networking. Experience in platform-related areas such as infrastructure as code, API gateways, observability, or asynchronous processing is expected. The role requires 5 days per week in-office presence in Boston and may involve up to 10% travel for onboarding, team meetings, and industry events.
