ID.me is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to architect, scale, and maintain the core cloud-native platform and data infrastructure powering their digital identity platform. You will own multi-region Kubernetes fleets, automated GitOps pipelines, policy-as-code governance, and enterprise data workflow orchestrations. Working closely with Platform, Security, SRE, and Product Engineering teams, you will transform complex infrastructure into self-service developer capabilities, enforce security guardrails, and ensure high availability across critical production services.
Key responsibilities include operating production Kubernetes clusters (GKE/EKS) across multiple regions, maintaining automated GitOps reconciliation pipelines using FluxCD and Helm, architecting modular Terraform codebases and managing enterprise workspaces, building and optimizing data pipelines using Apache Airflow and Kafka, integrating enterprise secret management tools (HashiCorp Vault, External Secrets Operator), leading zero-downtime infrastructure migrations, and driving reliability through on-call participation and observability design. You will also mentor mid-level and junior engineers through code and design reviews, establishing self-service infrastructure standards.
ID.me's platform serves 152+ million users across 20 federal agencies, 45 state government agencies, and 70+ healthcare organizations. The company is NIST 800-63-3 IAL2/AAL2 certified and meets federal authentication standards. This is a hands-on technical role requiring deep expertise in cloud-native distributed systems, Infrastructure as Code, GitOps continuous delivery, and data platform operations. The role is based in Mountain View, CA or McLean, VA with full-time in-office attendance required.
