Luminai is an AI-powered healthcare operations platform that automates mission-critical workflows across health systems. The company has raised $60M in Series B funding led by Peak XV Partners, with backing from prominent investors including Kevin Weil (OpenAI CPO), Arash Ferdowsi (Dropbox co-founder), and CEOs from Flexport, Notion, Front, Ramp, and Twitch.
As a Senior Software Engineer on the Platform team, you will own the design, development, and continuous improvement of Luminai's core infrastructure and systems. Your work will directly enable the company's rapid scaling while maintaining reliability and performance across distributed systems serving healthcare organizations.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead platform and backend projects from conception through production deployment
- Build and maintain shared libraries, services, and internal APIs that product engineers depend on
- Optimize developer velocity by improving build times, CI/CD pipelines, test infrastructure, and local development environments
- Shape core platform architecture and direction, implementing system improvements to support higher scale and reliability
- Manage and extend infrastructure across compute, data, and deployment systems
- Establish engineering excellence through rigorous code review, comprehensive testing, and maintainability standards
- Design and implement robust APIs, authentication mechanisms, and middleware that perform reliably under production load
- Strengthen production security with sensible defaults for access control, secrets management, and secure networking
You should have a proven track record shipping high-quality code on challenging projects, significant experience with distributed systems and cloud infrastructure, and working knowledge of security best practices for production environments. Strong problem-solving skills and comfort working across the full stack are essential.
The team works in-office 4 days per week (Monday–Friday, with Wednesday as optional work-from-home) at either the San Francisco or New York office.
