Salary: USD 172,000 - 190,000 / annual
Flock Safety is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to architect and build core planning and deployment software that powers hardware installation across cities and private communities. You will own the design and development of geospatial tools, routing algorithms, and permitting integrations that streamline device placement and municipal compliance workflows.
Key responsibilities include architecting geospatial tools and routing algorithms to identify optimal locations for hardware and safety devices; building automated permitting integrations that handle submissions, tracking, and approvals across thousands of jurisdictions; designing unified customer and deployment dashboards providing real-time visibility into installation progress and fleet health; developing robust backend web services using TypeScript, Node.js, and SQL databases; and deploying containerized microservices across cloud environments using Docker, Helm, and Kubernetes.
This is a full-stack engineering role, not front-end only. You will build web applications, backend services, database schemas, and cloud deployment pipelines. You won't be managing physical site installations or RF hardware design—instead, you'll engineer the software platform that powers those workflows.
Required skills: proficiency with TypeScript and Node.js for web services and APIs; modern web frameworks like React; strong SQL database design and relational data modeling; hands-on Docker containerization and Helm/Kubernetes deployment experience; practical knowledge of AWS services (S3, API Gateway, SQS); and comfort using modern AI-assisted engineering tools.
