In this role, you'll act as a technical guide, collaborating with engineers to prototype and implement solutions for complex distributed systems problems. You'll provide mentorship to the team and work closely with product, legal, and business development to ensure design decisions align with organizational strategy.
Key responsibilities include:
- Building and operating modern, cloud-native, highly-available distributed systems
- Designing and delivering complex features within large-scale systems in regulated environments
- Developing strong API design and integration (REST, gRPC) with clear service contracts
- Navigating and reducing technical debt while driving business value
- Owning technical delivery for complex features and influencing cross-team decisions
- Sharing knowledge and encouraging engineering standards across the team
You'll need 5+ years of backend software engineering experience with deep expertise in distributed systems architectures. Strong proficiency in Java and its ecosystem (threading, concurrency) is essential. Experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred), container orchestration (Kubernetes, ECS), and event-driven architecture (Kafka, SNS/SQS) is highly valued. You should have a proven track record designing and delivering complex features in large-scale, regulated environments and demonstrated ability to own technical delivery while managing feature-level migrations.
