Snowflake is hiring a Senior Software Engineer for the Workflow team within Observe by Snowflake, an AI-powered observability platform built on the Snowflake AI Data Cloud. The Workflow team owns the core user experience layer—dashboards, worksheets, and interfaces through which customers explore, query, and act on observability data.
In this role, you will design and build scalable, high-quality backend features powering dashboards and data visualization tools that customers depend on daily. You'll analyze, improve, and maintain performance, scalability, and availability of large-scale distributed systems and query processing engines. Key responsibilities include leading technical scoping and design reviews, proactively identifying architectural bottlenecks in workflow systems, and driving solutions that scale. You'll partner closely with Frontend, Logs, and APM engineering teams to deliver cohesive, end-to-end platform experiences, collaborate with Product Managers to translate customer needs into roadmap items and executable plans, and own the full delivery lifecycle from requirements and design through coding, testing, and production observability.
Ideal candidates hold a Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Mathematics, Physics, or related discipline (or equivalent professional experience). You should have proficiency in Go or demonstrated expertise in another high-performance systems programming language, proven experience designing and building user-facing features for distributed, production-scale architectures, and strong foundations in computer science including data structures, algorithms, and distributed systems principles. The ability to translate complex, ambiguous customer requirements into reliable, maintainable software is essential.
Bonus qualifications include experience building backend APIs and services for dashboarding, reporting, or data visualization platforms; comfort working across the backend/frontend boundary; familiarity with query languages, data processing systems, or large-scale observability platforms; and experience leading medium-to-large technical projects while mentoring earlier-career engineers and staying hands-on.
The Workflow team sits at the intersection of observability, user experience, and distributed systems. You'll have real ownership of roadmap-defining initiatives and direct visibility into how your work impacts thousands of companies interacting with their most critical operational data.
