Salary: USD 225,000 - 300,000 / annual

You will establish CLEAR's observability framework and foundations as a Senior Software Engineer. This is a high-impact role where you'll drive observability best practices across the engineering organization, identify and fix gaps in system visibility, and lead critical practices including load testing, capacity planning, chaos engineering, game days, and incident post-mortems.
Key responsibilities:
- Embed within the Engineering pillar to understand the product deeply and implement observability across all critical flows
- Design and build load testing cases to understand service limits and scaling factors
- Contribute to observability strategy and support the design of new services and systems with reliability and scalability in mind
- Build and lead practices such as game days, chaos engineering, and failure analysis
- Develop long-term capacity plans balancing reliability and cost-efficiency

REQUIREMENTS:
- 6+ years of experience writing production-grade software in modern languages (Java, Python, or similar)
- Strong knowledge of distributed systems concepts (CAP theorem), microservices architecture, and distributed tracing
- Experience with modern observability systems such as Datadog
- Experience with performance debugging tools and patterns; ability to read flame graphs
- Strong product and user-centric mindset
- Demonstrated history of owning complex, cross-functional projects from idea to production
- Excellent communication skills to explain technical concepts and influence both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Comfortable operating in ambiguous environments, making thoughtful tradeoffs, and driving work independently
- Collaborative mindset with passion for mentoring and improving engineering practices
