Salary: USD 191,000 - 253,000 / annual
Anduril Industries is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design, improve, and maintain the core package set that enables software distribution across the company for development, hosted services, and embedded devices. This role focuses on Nix expertise at scale, supporting Anduril's mission to transform U.S. and allied military capabilities with advanced technology.
Key responsibilities include maintaining an internal Nix package set for company-wide software distribution, packaging both open-source and proprietary software components using Nix, improving developer ergonomics by defining Nix usage standards and creating tooling support, and providing mentorship and training to other engineers.
You will operate autonomously in a complex environment, breaking down intricate problems into simple solutions. The role requires deep expertise in Nix, Nixpkgs, NixOS, and functional programming, with a thorough understanding of build systems and packaging ecosystems. You should be capable of diving into large, complicated systems and using Nix to improve them.
Required qualifications include proficiency with Nix and functional programming, deep understanding of build systems and packaging ecosystems, experience with languages such as Rust, C++, Go, Python, or Haskell, and eligibility to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.
Preferred qualifications include experience with cloud computing resources (AWS), modern build and deployment tooling (NixOS, Terraform), designing complex software systems with technical design review processes, familiarity with monitoring and logging tools, and a bias toward rapid delivery and iteration.
