ICEYE is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to build and evolve the networking backbone of its satellite ground-to-space communication system. You will work on the TT&C (Telemetry, Tracking & Command) Gateway, designing and implementing socket-level connections, traffic shaping, and resilience mechanisms that enable reliable communication over degraded, low-bandwidth, high-latency links between ICEYE's SAR satellite constellation and ground stations.
In this role, you will have significant latitude to propose architecture and shape design direction. Key responsibilities include improving link reliability and fault tolerance, standing up automated anomaly detection and recovery procedures to reduce manual intervention, integrating the gateway with ground stations and mission control tooling, and raising code quality through rigorous review and CI/CD practices. You will also mentor junior engineers and contribute to the technical growth of the Fleet Automation team.
You bring deep networking expertise: socket programming, TCP/IP, application-layer protocols (SSH, VPN), routing, traffic shaping, and load balancing, with ability to debug at packet level and design for unreliable networks. You have a proven track record building and operating automated/distributed systems in production. You are analytically strong, with structured troubleshooting skills and a data-driven approach to complex problems. You are proficient in at least two of Python, Go, and Rust, experienced with Kubernetes-native environments, Docker, and AWS or similar cloud platforms. You are pragmatic about using AI/LLM tools to assist development.
