Crusoe is a vertically integrated AI infrastructure company building the next generation of cloud services with an energy-first approach. They own and operate the full stack from power generation through AI workload execution. You'll join as a Senior Software Engineer focused on network tooling, building the platform that powers Crusoe Cloud's network operations across edge, backbone, and data center environments. This is a mission-critical role that directly enables the speed and reliability of network operations as the company scales. Key responsibilities include: - Design and develop network state management systems, including provisioning, configuration management, topology/routing state, and control plane APIs that other teams depend on - Scale control plane systems reliably as Crusoe Cloud grows, handling increasing network complexity and device counts - Mentor fellow engineers and maintain high standards in design and code quality through reviews and technical guidance - Partner with product to make build-vs-buy decisions on control plane software, balancing scalability, cost, and speed - Collaborate cross-functionally with product, operations, and engineering teams to align control plane systems with growth needs - Design fault-tolerant, distributed systems ensuring high availability and resilience - Advocate for modern software development practices, CI/CD, and infrastructure-as-code to improve velocity and reliability - Own initiatives end-to-end from ideation through deployment, delivering measurable impact You bring 5+ years of professional backend software engineering experience building production systems. You're proficient in modern languages like Go, Rust, C++, Java, or Python, with solid understanding of distributed systems concepts (consensus, state reconciliation, fault tolerance, high availability). You have a track record designing scalable, reliable APIs/services used by multiple teams, familiarity with CI/CD and IaC tools (Terraform, Ansible), strong cross-functional collaboration skills, and demonstrated ability to mentor engineers. Bonus experience includes networking software/protocols, control plane systems (routing, switching, BGP, SDN), cloud provider or hyperscaler background, network telemetry protocols (gNMI, gRPC, NETCONF), Kubernetes orchestration, or open source infrastructure contributions.
