Cloudflare is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Argo team, which owns a critical aspect of the company's infrastructure: enabling more reliable network connectivity than the Internet itself provides. The Argo platform powers nearly all Cloudflare products including CDN, Spectrum, Magic Transit, Stream, Workers, Workers AI, R2, and WARP.
In this role, you will be a key technical contributor to cutting-edge network software infrastructure. You'll work closely with various engineering teams to translate their requirements into new platform capabilities, and partner with Network Engineering and SRE teams to optimize use of Cloudflare's global edge network.
You will participate across the full software development lifecycle: designing and documenting systems, writing code and automated tests, planning and managing production deployments, and monitoring system health. The tech stack includes Rust, Go, Linux networking, ClickHouse, PostgreSQL, Grafana, and Kubernetes. You'll leverage AI-powered tools daily for code analysis, production system introspection, and problem-solving.
Cloudflare operates a "Run What You Build" model, meaning you'll be responsible for system health and participate in on-call rotations. You'll solve problems at massive scale in a fast-paced but sensible environment, working with a team that values curiosity, empathy, and growth-oriented thinking.
Required: Systems-level programming in Go, Rust, C, or C++; solid grasp of OSI Layer 3-4 networking protocols; knowledge of HTTP, TLS, and CDN networks; experience building secure, highly-available distributed systems; expertise in monitoring and debugging large-scale systems; on-call rotation experience; strong collaboration skills; and willingness to adopt AI tools.
Bonus: TCP/IP and Internet routing knowledge, professional Rust experience, statistical analysis and control theory background, API/tool building experience, and prior use of AI-assisted development tools.
