Snowflake is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to support the company's expansion into public sector and national security markets. In this role, you will design, implement, and maintain scalable distributed systems for Snowflake's cloud automation platform, including cloud control plane, Kubernetes container orchestration, and networking infrastructure. You will work directly with government and public sector customers to understand their critical requirements and deliver compliant, secure, and auditable solutions.
Key responsibilities include: designing and implementing distributed systems that operate in air-gapped and sensitive production environments; deploying and maintaining cloud compute servers and Kubernetes clusters; building and maintaining delivery pipelines that support continuous delivery with automatic compliance verification; ensuring operational readiness and meeting customer commitments on security, reliability, availability, and performance; collaborating with product teams on requirements and SLOs for air-gapped deployments; troubleshooting network and systems issues; and automating routine operational tasks.
You will need 7+ years of experience designing and supporting large-scale distributed systems in production, with recent public sector deployment experience. Required expertise includes storage systems, cloud infrastructure, infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, Pulumi), strong computer science fundamentals, proficiency in Java, C++, Go, or Python, database systems knowledge, and experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP. An advanced degree in Computer Science or related field is preferred.
This role requires an active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph and U.S. citizenship. Candidates must be willing and able to maintain the clearance and meet all applicable government security screening requirements.
