Anduril Industries, a defense technology company, is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join its Maritime Division in Costa Mesa, California. The Maritime Division develops autonomous underwater systems and integrated software solutions for military operations, including platforms like Dive-XL, Dive-LD, Copperhead, and Seabed Sentry. In this role, you will independently drive the delivery of software integrated into autonomous maritime products, spanning autonomy, simulation, data processing, payload integration, and command-and-control systems. You will demonstrate end-to-end ownership at the subsystem or system level and serve as a technical lead in architecting, designing, and delivering next-generation autonomous platforms throughout their lifecycle. Key responsibilities include: - Empathizing with end-users and balancing their needs against multi-stakeholder constraints and military requirements - Owning deployed software solutions that optimize value delivery to customers - Designing and implementing scalable software that rapidly extends platform capabilities with clear evolution paths - Contributing to reusable software services across Anduril product lines - Developing software for both on-board robotic platforms and off-board command systems using diverse technologies - Designing and executing development processes including full lifecycle testing, monitoring, and operational support - Creating test and simulation fixtures with software- and hardware-in-the-loop capabilities - Supporting vehicle manufacturing and deployment activities - Mentoring junior software engineers and collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams - Traveling up to 20% to co-locate with end-users and partner teams Required qualifications include a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Mechatronics, Engineering, or equivalent experience; extensive professional software engineering experience; strong systems and application programming skills (algorithms, data structures, concurrency, scaling, testing, infrastructure, design); experience troubleshooting remotely deployed systems; ability to own software services end-to-end; mentoring capability; and eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret security clearance. Preferred qualifications include prior senior-level experience delivering military mission systems and backend/embedded software expertise in C++, Rust, or Go.
