Salary: USD 94,973 - 250,000 / annual
StubHub is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design and maintain core engineering infrastructure that powers the world's leading live event ticketing marketplace. This role focuses on building and improving enterprise-level architectural patterns, shared services, and backend infrastructure used across development teams.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design and maintain core engineering infrastructure, shared frameworks, internal platforms, and foundational system components (20%)
- Develop and improve enterprise-level architectural patterns supporting scalability, reliability, and maintainability (15%)
- Build and refine shared services and backend infrastructure enabling consistent service-to-service communication (10%)
- Review system designs across teams to ensure alignment with architectural standards and performance requirements (5%)
- Identify structural system limitations and implement infrastructure-level improvements (5%)
- Develop automation tools and internal utilities for deployment, monitoring, and operational workflows (10%)
- Improve system resiliency through enhancements to fault tolerance, observability, and performance optimization (10%)
- Contribute to infrastructure modernization by refactoring legacy components (5%)
- Document and promote engineering standards related to infrastructure design and system reliability (5%)
- Support teams in adopting shared platform components and infrastructure best practices (15%)
The role is hybrid with telecommuting permitted up to 2 days per week. Primary office location: StubHub Inc., 1901 Avenue of the Stars, Century City, Los Angeles, CA 90067.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree or U.S. equivalent in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field
- 2+ years as a Software Engineer, Software Developer, or equivalent software development role
- 2+ years professional experience developing robust, mission-critical systems using programming languages (C/C++, Java, C#, Rust, React, or OOP languages)
- 2+ years professional experience designing and optimizing distributed systems, including microservices architectures with Java and Spring Boot, Redis-based caching strategies, and Kafka for event-driven message queuing
- 2+ years professional experience analyzing and enhancing system scalability, reliability, and performance metrics
- 2+ years professional experience designing and developing solutions to complex problems with significant business impact
- 2+ years professional experience integrating systems with broader production environments including dependencies and platform primitives
- 2+ years professional experience collaborating with cross-functional teams (software engineers, product managers, platform engineers, data scientists, data engineers, analytics engineers)
