Chime's Lending organization builds products and platforms that provide members with fair, transparent access to credit and liquidity. This includes Earned Wage Access (MyPay), flexible overdraft (SpotMe), Instant Loans, and the underlying infrastructure for credit decisions, funding, repayments, and servicing. As a Senior Software Engineer in Lending, you'll work at the intersection of member-facing products and the platforms that power them. This role is designed for engineers who want broader ownership beyond a single service or feature. You'll lead technical initiatives that span products, platforms, and partner teams, shaping how the Lending system evolves. Key responsibilities include: - Design and build backend systems where correctness, reliability, speed, and operational rigor are critical - Lead end-to-end architecture and delivery of systems connecting member-facing products with shared platforms (Credit Risk, Capital Markets, Repayments, servicing, core financial systems) - Partner with Product, Design, Risk, Data Science, Analytics, Finance, and Operations to turn ambiguous opportunities into durable solutions - Influence technical direction across team boundaries and raise engineering standards across Lending - Work on real-time money movement and decisioning infrastructure at scale, including underwriting, eligibility, ledgering, reconciliation, and financial transactions You'll operate in a fast-paced fintech environment that values thoughtful design, strong engineering judgment, high-quality code, and operational excellence. The role expects technical leadership beyond execution: driving alignment across teams, shaping architecture and patterns, and improving how the organization operates. This is positioned as a strong opportunity for engineers preparing for larger technical scope.
