Join Twilio's Compliance Experiences team as a Senior Software Engineer (L3), a key technical contributor driving the design, execution, and operational health of platform services that process millions of requests daily. The team owns two critical domains: Phone Numbers and Compliance (KYC), which form the gateway to accessing Twilio's communication APIs globally.
In this role, you will architect and build scalable, high-performance solutions for sophisticated phone number orchestration and identity verification systems. You'll own end-to-end feature delivery, author technical specifications, and develop robust APIs and microservices relied upon by cross-functional stakeholders. Your responsibilities include:
- Contributing significantly to technical design and roadmap for core platform components, driving the transition of legacy systems into modern, scalable cloud-native microservices
- Leveraging AI coding assistants (GitHub Copilot, Claude, internal LLMs) to accelerate development, automate boilerplate, generate comprehensive test suites, and rapidly prototype solutions
- Driving technical excellence and component ownership, making sound decisions that balance rapid feature delivery with system reliability, security, and technical debt reduction
- Partnering with Product Managers and cross-functional teams to translate customer needs and regulatory requirements into precise technical specifications and developer-first APIs
- Mentoring and uplifting junior engineers (L1–L2), onboarding new team members, and fostering collaboration through code reviews and technical guidance
- Proactively identifying and resolving technical risks, performance bottlenecks, and security vulnerabilities; owning on-call responsibilities and driving incident resolution
- Articulating technical designs, system trade-offs, and operational runbooks through high-quality design documents, RFCs, and thorough documentation
