As a Senior Software Engineer specializing in Java, you will own, design, and scale the highly available, resilient back-end systems powering Bitpanda's core financial ecosystem. Your work will directly impact how millions of customers interact with digital assets at scale.
Key responsibilities include:
- Architect and build scalable, resilient, message-driven services using Java and modern frameworks like Spring Boot
- Design and develop clean, future-proof code with 80% unit test coverage, alongside comprehensive end-to-end and integration testing
- Optimize core backend modules and services to guarantee maximum reliability, maintainability, performance, and scalability
- Research and adopt the latest trends and technologies in backend development to keep infrastructure cutting-edge
- Act as a technical mentor for junior and mid-level developers, providing architectural guidance and code reviews
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams spanning Product, Risk, Compliance, and Finance to architect services that safeguard the platform and ensure regulatory compliance
Required qualifications:
- Advanced knowledge and hands-on experience in software development using modern Java frameworks, particularly Spring Boot
- Solid understanding of both relational and non-relational databases, with direct experience in Postgres and MongoDB preferred
- Proven experience creating, scaling, and maintaining publicly available REST APIs with strong performance optimization skills
- Experience with event-driven microservices architecture
- Strong testing practices and quality mindset
