Salary: USD 180,000 - 243,000 / annual

Adyen is a global financial technology platform providing payments, data, and financial products to enterprise customers like Meta, Uber, H&M, and Microsoft. The US Bank Accounts team is building products that enable businesses to open, manage, and move money directly within Adyen's ecosystem. As a Senior Software Engineer on this nascent team, you will be an early member with significant influence over technical direction, architecture, and roadmap. You'll own projects end-to-end, from requirements analysis through design, implementation, testing, and production launch. Your responsibilities include: - Designing and implementing complex technical projects at scale, with code that impacts millions of merchants and shoppers - Contributing hands-on to implementation while bringing your own perspective on engineering best practices - Building robust, scalable APIs and tooling that meet high performance and code quality standards - Identifying opportunities to improve platform robustness and scalability - Collaborating across teams and time zones to deliver features rapidly; you'll ship live functionality within your first few weeks - Partnering with engineering, product, and key stakeholders to translate complex banking requirements into reliable customer experiences - Helping define the team's culture and identity as an early member You bring 7+ years of software development experience with strong expertise in Java, web services, REST APIs, webhooks, and SQL/PostgreSQL. You understand distributed systems at scale, value software engineering best practices, and have genuine interest in product knowledge. You're an engineer with an ownership mentality who seeks diverse perspectives and collaborates effectively. Adyen is office-first; this Chicago-based role requires in-office presence at least 3 days per week on average to support in-person collaboration and learning.
