Adyen is a global financial technology platform providing payments, data, and financial products for enterprise customers including Meta, Uber, H&M, and Microsoft. The Authentication & Tokenization team operates at the intersection of security and conversion optimization, delivering robust solutions for global commerce.
You will work on mission-critical systems that securely vault payment credentials and dynamically optimize transaction flows to eliminate checkout friction while maintaining strict compliance. These products are core pillars of Adyen Uplift, an AI-powered payment optimization suite designed to drive peak performance for global enterprise merchants.
Based in Bengaluru, one of the world's most dynamic fintech hubs, the engineering team navigates intricate compliance frameworks including RBI's Card-on-File Tokenization (CoFT) and multi-factor authentication mandates. You'll design and scale low-latency, highly resilient distributed systems that process millions of daily transactions, with direct impact on enterprise merchants and consumers across APAC, Europe, and the Americas.
In this role, you will:
- Own complex technical projects end-to-end: requirements analysis, design, implementation, testing, and production launch
- Contribute hands-on implementation while bringing your perspective on engineering best practices
- Identify and improve platform components for robustness and scalability
- Think at scale—your code will impact millions of daily transactions
- Launch features rapidly and iterate often; expect to ship live functionality impacting merchants and shoppers within weeks
- Build high-quality APIs and tooling focused on performance and code quality
- Collaborate across distributed teams and time zones
You bring 7+ years of professional software engineering experience in fast-paced technology environments. You're an engineer with ownership mentality, not just a coder. You have hands-on experience with Java, Web Services, REST APIs, Webhooks, and SQL/PostgreSQL. You understand software engineering practices, have interest in product knowledge, and are familiar with complex large-scale distributed systems. You value diverse perspectives and actively involve others in decision-making.
Tech stack: Java 21, RESTful Web Services, SQL/PostgreSQL with MyBatis ORM, Tomcat, Gradle, CockroachDB, and Elasticsearch.
