CLEAR is building a secure identity platform serving 43+ million members across travel, enterprise, healthcare, and financial services. The company is transforming how people experience frictionless identity verification at airports, stadiums, and in everyday digital interactions.
As a Senior Software Engineer, you'll own complex technical problems end-to-end—from design through deployment. You'll work across CLEAR's three technology pillars: Core Identity, CLEAR1, and CLEAR Travel. Your responsibilities include designing and building scalable full-stack applications, owning projects from technical discovery through operational support, and partnering with Product, Design, Security, and Operations teams to translate business problems into elegant technical solutions.
You'll drive engineering excellence by improving system reliability, performance, testing, observability, and developer experience. You'll contribute to architectural decisions that enhance platform scalability, security, and maintainability. Mentoring teammates through code reviews and sharing best practices is a core part of the role.
The tech stack centers on Java (backend), React and TypeScript (frontend). You'll work with cloud-native technologies including AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, GitHub, and CI/CD pipelines.
You bring 6+ years of professional full-stack software engineering experience building production applications. You have strong fundamentals in distributed systems, APIs, cloud infrastructure, and modern software architecture. You're comfortable operating in ambiguous environments, making thoughtful tradeoffs, and independently driving work forward. You communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders and have a demonstrated history of owning complex, cross-functional projects from idea to production.
