Aviso, a leading Canadian wealth management organization, is seeking a Senior Software Engineer with deep Java expertise to join their Information Technology team. Reporting to the Manager of Software Engineering, you will lead end-to-end development of software modules while ensuring adherence to engineering standards and best practices.
Your primary responsibilities include mentoring and coaching junior and mid-level engineers to foster technical growth, collaborating cross-functionally with product leaders and designers to define scalable technical solutions, and designing robust, maintainable software architectures using modern frameworks and cloud-native technologies. You will conduct thorough code reviews, enforce quality standards, and drive continuous improvement in development processes.
You will play a strategic role in planning and technical documentation, contributing to long-term technical roadmaps and architectural decisions. Key technical focus areas include optimizing system performance, troubleshooting complex issues, and implementing solutions that improve reliability and scalability. You will champion DevOps practices including CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and cloud deployment strategies with Azure.
Required qualifications include a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or related field with 5-10 years of software development experience. Extensive Java experience is essential. You must have strong grasp of software architecture and design patterns, proficiency with Git, hands-on experience with CI/CD tools (Azure DevOps or Jenkins), and familiarity with Azure cloud, APIM, Dapr, and infrastructure as code (Bicep). Solid database skills in both SQL and NoSQL are required.
Assets include experience with object-oriented languages (C#, Python), front-end frameworks (React, Angular, Flutter, AEM), proven leadership and mentoring experience, and bilingual capabilities (English required, French an asset). The role emphasizes staying current with emerging technologies and integrating relevant tools to enhance system performance and developer productivity.
