Adyen is a global financial technology platform providing payments, data, and financial products for enterprise customers including Meta, Uber, H&M, and Microsoft. You will join the Authentication & Tokenization team, which operates at the intersection of high-grade security and conversion optimization, delivering robust solutions for global commerce.
The Authentication & Tokenization systems are core pillars of Adyen Uplift, an AI-powered payment optimization suite designed to drive peak performance for global enterprise merchants. These systems securely vault payment credentials to enable seamless checkout experiences while ensuring adherence to localized market regulations, and dynamically optimize transaction flows to eliminate checkout friction while maintaining strict compliance.
Based in Bengaluru, one of the world's most dynamic fintech hubs, the engineering team navigates intricate compliance frameworks including RBI's Card-on-File Tokenization (CoFT) and multi-factor authentication mandates. You will design and scale low-latency, highly resilient distributed systems that process millions of daily transactions, with end-to-end ownership of mission-critical architecture that directly impacts enterprise merchants and consumers across APAC, Europe, and the Americas.
In this role, you will:
- Build and maintain the distributed high-performance platform
- Take complete end-to-end ownership from initial design through bringing new functionality live
- Identify and improve parts of the platform to make it more robust and scalable
- Collaborate across teams and time zones, review code, and be open to feedback
- Work on core financial data processes and finance infrastructure to keep it scalable, reliable, and secure
- Launch fast and iterate often—within your first few weeks, you will bring code live that impacts many businesses and shoppers
Tech stack: Java 21, RESTful Web Services, SQL/PostgreSQL with MyBatis ORM, Tomcat, Gradle, CockroachDB, and Elasticsearch.
Requirements:
- 7+ years of experience with object-oriented programming languages, specifically Java
- Flexible, team player with attention to detail
- Ability to take ownership, lead projects, and write testable code
- Excellent communication skills and ability to articulate complex technical concepts
- Proficiency in English; additional languages a plus
- Based in or willing to relocate to Bengaluru (office-first company, no remote-only roles)
