Salary: USD 196,000 - 230,000 / annual
Airbnb's iOS Platform team is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to drive projects that improve AI agents' effectiveness across the software development workflow. The team's mission is to provide best-in-class experience for iOS development at Airbnb, empowering engineers to deliver innovative solutions with high velocity and quality at scale.
You will work on a large surface area spanning frameworks and tooling, build systems, CI, testing, and AI automations. The team maintains and evolves core libraries and frameworks that underlie most of the Airbnb iOS app, enabling product engineers to build great features. The application is nearly 100% written in Swift and adopts the latest Apple technologies including SwiftUI, Swift Macros, Swift Testing, and structured concurrency.
In this role, you'll be responsible for driving projects that improve AI agents' effectiveness by providing the right tools to get work done efficiently and reliably. Your typical day includes collaborating with team members and cross-functional partners to identify opportunities for improving developer productivity, driving roadmap projects and delivering high-quality results, and improving existing frameworks and tooling to deliver on the team's ambitious vision.
This position is US Remote Eligible with occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites as agreed with your manager. You must live in a state where Airbnb, Inc. has a registered entity (check the careers page for excluded states). The role may include quarterly travel to the San Francisco office for about a week.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 5-9+ years of industry experience in software development
- Experience building reliable developer tooling in Go
- Experience working with Ruby and maintaining or improving existing tooling
- Experience leveraging Agentic AI to improve software development workflows and drive large-scale migrations
- Experience identifying and addressing inefficiencies in AI agent workflows to improve execution time, token efficiency, reliability, and quality
- Experience working in medium- to large-scale codebases
- iOS development experience in Swift, including building applications, libraries, and frameworks
- Nice to have: Experience designing and developing build systems (e.g., Bazel)
- Ability to travel to the San Francisco office for about a week each quarter for gatherings
