Salary: USD 200,700 - 250,900 / annual
Mercury is a fintech platform providing banking, treasury, and financial workflow solutions for startups and technology companies. The Investments Team builds sophisticated backend and frontend systems that manage billions in customer assets, enabling founders to deploy idle capital effectively through institutional-level cash management.
As a Senior Software Engineer on the Investments Team, you will be a technical leader and hands-on engineer responsible for architecting, building, and scaling novel Trading & Custody systems. These systems power Mercury's Treasury and Invest products and support the internal Investment Operations team with robust tooling.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading high-impact, cross-functional projects across the Investments domain
- Architecting and scaling brokerage trading and custody systems and processes
- Collaborating with product, operations, and compliance teams to ship thoughtful features for customers and internal users
- Owning product direction and actively shaping Mercury's future
- Working with a team managing billions of dollars in customer assets
Ideal candidates will have:
- 5-7+ years of backend engineering experience with strong ownership and attention to detail
- Domain expertise in broker-dealer trading and/or custody systems supporting equities, fixed income, ETFs, and mutual funds
- Experience with scale and AWS/infrastructure solutions
- Track record as technical lead on complex, multi-stakeholder projects from inception to completion
- Ability to make and articulate architectural decisions, measuring impact over time and clearly explaining tradeoffs
