Attentive is an AI-powered marketing platform that unifies SMS, RCS, email, and push notifications to deliver personalized 1:1 customer experiences at scale. As a Senior Software Engineer on the Intelligent Messaging team, you will architect and develop scalable backend systems that power AI-driven personalization and multi-channel messaging experimentation. You'll work with advanced AI and LLM technologies, including generative AI and GPT, to enable marketers to deliver billions of tailored messages that drive customer engagement and revenue.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design and maintain high-performance, scalable backend systems for customer-facing products
- Collaborate with engineers, data scientists, product managers, and designers to build AI-powered messaging applications
- Implement and optimize systems processing billions of daily messages
- Drive architectural decisions and technical strategy
- Improve code quality through reviews, testing, and best practices
- Address technical debt and ensure long-term codebase health
You'll work with a modern tech stack: Java/Spring Boot microservices, Kubernetes/AWS EKS, DynamoDB, Postgres, Kinesis, Kafka, React/TypeScript frontend, and infrastructure tools like Terraform, Datadog, and Istio.
Required: 5+ years backend software development experience, proficiency in Java, Python, or Go, expertise building scalable high-performance systems, strong collaboration skills, and solid understanding of software development best practices.
Nice-to-haves: service-oriented architecture, AWS experience, database knowledge (DynamoDB, Postgres, Redis), messaging systems (Kafka, Pulsar), React/TypeScript, DevOps (Docker, Kubernetes).
