Salary: USD 140,000 - 180,000 / annual

Archer Technologies is building an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) aircraft designed to carry four passengers with minimal noise, advancing sustainable air mobility. The company is based in San Jose and is at the forefront of aerospace innovation. This Senior Software Engineer role sits within the integrated test organization, which is central to validation and verification activities for Archer's VTOL aircraft. This is high-ownership, high-visibility work that directly enables the path to certification and commercial operations. Key responsibilities include: - Design and build simulation environments for integrated labs, hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) systems, and software benches used in aircraft validation and verification - Own the tools and interfaces for the labs, optimizing workflows and ensuring configuration management and traceability that supports certification and regulatory requirements - Integrate third-party software and hardware systems into simulation architectures, collaborating closely with internal teams and suppliers - Develop and optimize simulation pipelines with CI/CD integration for automated deployment, execution, and monitoring - Contribute to technical standards, provide guidance to other engineers, and help drive resolution of complex issues across labs Required qualifications: - 3+ years of experience building and maintaining hardware-in-the-loop test simulation environments and associated software tools - Bachelor's degree or higher in Aerospace, Software, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field - Strong C/C++ and Python skills - Experience with MATLAB/Simulink in real-time simulation environments - Strong command of communication protocols: RS-422/485, CAN/CAN-FD, ARINC-429, Ethernet/TCP-IP - Hands-on experience with CI/CD tooling (GitHub Actions, Jenkins) and agile workflows - Strong problem-solving, cross-functional collaboration, and troubleshooting skills Nice-to-have qualifications include aerospace or autonomous vehicle experience, proficiency in NI software suite (LabVIEW, VeriStand), real-time OS development, familiarity with FAA frameworks and DO-178 standards, and startup or fast-paced aerospace development experience.
