Klaviyo's Infrastructure Security team is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design, build, and operate cloud-native security services that enable engineers across the organization to ship secure software with confidence. This role sits at the intersection of security, infrastructure, and software engineering, focusing on building reliable, secure, and performant distributed systems at global scale. You will own meaningful components and services end-to-end, from implementation through production operation. Key responsibilities include designing and maintaining cloud-native security services, improving availability and scalability of infrastructure security systems, collaborating on system design and architecture, identifying and resolving performance and reliability issues in distributed systems, and driving improvements across the platform. You'll work extensively with Python, Go, AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform, and modern data stores. The role involves active participation in design reviews, code reviews, and whiteboarding sessions, as well as contributing to operational excellence through monitoring, alerting, and incident response. You'll participate in an on-call rotation focused on learning, prevention, and reducing operational toil, and build tooling and automation that improves developer experience and security posture. Required qualifications include 6+ years of experience building and operating cloud-native, distributed systems in production; proficiency writing production-quality code in Python or Go; hands-on AWS (or equivalent cloud provider) experience with managed services, networking, and IAM; experience with containers and Kubernetes; and infrastructure-as-code experience with Terraform. You should be comfortable owning services independently, understand scalable multi-tenant architectures and secure system design, and care deeply about reliability, performance, observability, and security. You're an excellent communicator and collaborator who leads technical discussions, writes clear design documents and RFCs, and keeps stakeholders aligned. You handle complex systems and outage situations effectively, driving failures to root cause analysis. You're excited about exploring AI tools responsibly and finding ways to improve workflows, architecture, and team processes. You mentor other engineers and are intrinsically motivated to drive incremental and step-change improvements.
